Nervous commenting

Posted Jan 14, 2004 in Blogging.

This is the first post to have comments open. I'm going to be doing a bit of testing with it, to see what happens when I mess around.

For the time being, only plain text will be used, with carriage returns being automatically converted into line breaks. Hopefully, the comment system can be expanded later on.

So why am I nervous? Because the system I have implemented is very basic, and it would be easy for someone to enter something invalid - or worst, not well-formed. Most user agents get application/xhtml+xml so I expect to have to go in and edit broken things from time to time.

I'm dead nervous about this. Let us hope that I don't manage to screw things up too badly.

It will be interesting to see what it makes of some <code>code</code>, and some "quotation" marks!

Test comment - checking to see if you redirect works okay.

Another test. This one includes an "email notification system", whatever the hell that is supposed to mean! Don't pay any attention to this.

More testing. 'Singles' and "doubles" going through the system.
