Reuters now using RSS

I read an article about how Reuters now had RSS feeds. Almost immediately afterward, I read Dave Winer's post about it. In his post, Dave says:

I also liked that they called out Google for being incompatible. More coverage like this and they'll have to join the rest of the technology and publishing industries and get behind RSS.

This seems at odds with Stephanie Olsen's actual words:

Google supports a rival syndication technology called Atom.

There is no mention of incompatibilities between the two formats. In fact, history suggests that the word "incompatibility" is positively embraced by RSS.

Heh. Syndicate "fighting" is so amusing.

No "fighting" should be necessary. RSS is good for some stuff, Atom is good for other stuff. I provide feeds of both, because I cannot be certain how the feeds are being used. I like Atom because it is less complicated than RDF, but more useful than RSS.
