Consortium interested in Atom

Posted May 13, 2004 in XML.

Dave Winer sportingly posts that the World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C, are interested in the Atom syndication format. This may be a response to the decision by Google to support only Atom for its Blogger weblogging service.

This could be wonderful news for Atom. With the weight of a W3C Recommendation behind it, Atom will become as mainstream as RSS. Hopefully, some of the big news organizations will adopt it. The dedication and attention to detail of those behind the Atom format should be applauded.
