Movies I must see

Posted May 20, 2004 in Movies.

I have been neglecting my passion for the cinema lately. There are a few blockbuster movies that I must try to see on the big screen. These include:

  1. Troy
  2. The Day After Tomorrow
  3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  4. The Chronicles of Riddick
  5. Spider-Man 2
  6. King Arthur
  7. I, Robot
  8. The Bourne Supremacy

There are others I would consider, such as Around the World in 80 Days [just saw a trailer - ewwww] and Thunderbirds, but only if I have time to burn. Other great movies can wait for DVD releases, because they aren't must-see-on-the-big-screen material.

Spider-Man 2 is the main movie I'm really looking forward to this summer. It looks 10 times better than the first movie (which I really, really liked).

Chronicles of Riddick looks very promising. Pitch Black was a great sleeper movie and a nice sci-fi change of pace. This new one looks like Star Wars crossed with Dune, doesn't it?

Troy was just ok but see it for yourself to judge it, don't take my word for it :)

I have heard that "Troy" isn't all it promised to be. There was a great row over its soundtrack, for example. The original composer was basically fired after a year of work, and a rather rushed (and not well-received) replacement was written.

Nevertheless, it is not a movie I would like to confine to the small screen.

Yeah, the score does suck. I actually think, looking back on it, that it drives down the quality of the film.
