I saw Troy yesterday - the first on my recent list of those movies I am interested in. I was very disappointed with it. Despite quality performances from Eric Bana and Brian Cox, the film was overlong and boring.

Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom were awful, although not as bad as the various simpering females that wandered in and out of frame. The soundtrack was dreadful - what where they thinking?

Sadly, I do not think the performance of Peter O'Toole warrants a hoped-for Academy Award. I was hoping that he would turn in something special, much like Oliver Reed did in Gladiator, but his portrayal of Troy's King was hampered by the dire script.

If you must see Troy, see it on the big screen. The cinematography requires it. But personally, I wouldn't bother yourself with it.

Don't know if you've seen this already Simon but it's really, really funny if you've seen the movie: Troy in Fifteen Minutes

Yeah indeed, I said something similar to: "They missed the facts".
