Missing comments

I managed to lose all the si-blog comments since the beginning of July in a truly spectacular case of botched logic. Annoyed at getting comment spam, I was reworking the comment administration of my home-brewed content management system. I did a delete test, and foolishly deleted all comments. My previous host did daily backups for me, but my current host does not. I managed to restore a good number of them from the backup I made when I switched servers recently, but many were lost.
Note to self:
- Do daily MySQL backups
- Don't tell my wife how stupid I have been
