The Iraqi government are wisely calling the action in Falluja Al Fajr, or “Operation New Dawn” in English. The US military have chosen to call the operation Phantom Fury, which sounds more like a video game or a bad movie starring Dean Cain.
I recognize the importance of going in to Falluja and dealing with the insurgents, but is it necessary to give the operation such a ridiculous title? At best it is just dumb-sounding, but at worst it could be considered inflammatory. Must we always have this “yeehaa” attitude?
