Quick plug-in

This is the first of a new addition to the si-blog. “Quick plug-ins” will be short posts that don't warrant the longwinded bollocks I usually dish out.
The US appeals court has ordered a retrial of Eolas Vs. Microsoft. A lower court failed to take into account the prior art with regards to browser plug-ins. The BBC has more on the story.
By the way, “Quick plug-in” was not intended to be a pun. The subject matter of the post itself was coincidental.

Can you guarantee that, even on a subconscious level, that the use of the term 'plug-in' was indeed purely coincidental?
