Advanced driving

Posted May 25, 2005 in Miscellaneous.

I'm hoping that readers in my region will be able to help me out here. I'm looking for a place to learn advanced/performance driving in the PA/NJ/DE area. Specifically, I'm looking for skid control, accident avoidance, and high-speed maneuvering.

The best I can come up with so far is this course in New Jersey, run by AAA, but the emphasis is all on defensive driving (boring) and reversing. Everything else seems to be lashing around a track in a racecar, which is not what I want at all.

    I suggest 95 during rush hour...it's a learning experience.

Not really "high speed" enough, is it? More of a "steady crawl" punctuated by occasional profanity.

Simon, it's my understanding thet the State Police Barracks ( here in Hershey PA )offer their driving course ( the one for new cadets ) to the public twice a year. I don't think there's a fee, but I do believe it's first come first served. I heard about this a few years ago, so hopefuly it's still in use. Maybe you could check that out.

Thanks for that, Chad. I've been googling for more information, but I can't find it. I guess I could give them a call and see what's what.
