Got power

Posted Oct 11, 2005 in Events, Miscellaneous, Weather.

Three days ago, heavy rain caused the creek at the rear of our property to wash the ground away from around an oak tree we have. High winds then pushed it over, severing the power, cable, and telephone lines completely. With a live wire in the back yard, I had to wait until the power company had made it safe before calling the cable and phone companies. Comcast came yesterday evening, so we have an internet connection at last. The phone will likely be restored sometime before the weekend. I'm ashamed to say how much I rely on the television and the internet connection - I was bored rigid.

You must have done something in a previous life to piss off the water gods. They seem to have it in for you, after this and your plumbing problem.

It does rather seem that way, doesn't it?

Can you tell me if man can make coal? Under certain conditions with pressure, temperature & moisture, can coal be made? If carbon dating is the way of determining age, then you might want to explore this area. Areas which had carbon and were dated to be millions of years old had a tree growing in the midst of the soil? Please research and reply your conclusion.

I was going to delete the previous comment, since it was obviously off topic. On reflection, however, I decided to keep it because it was just so damn weird.
